What are you currently doing?
I am currently working on my eponymous Textile brand Anu Raina.
What did receiving the William and Mary Corcoran Craft Award for Textiles mean to you?
As a graduating Textile student, winning the William and Mary Corcoran Craft Award meant a lot to me. I was able to buy my first professional Canon camera to help me with shooting the high quality images of my work. I still use the camera today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Award donors for their generosity in establishing this award for the graduating craft professionals.
What does private arts philanthropy mean to you as a working artist?
Private arts philanthropy creates a positive halo effect where artists feel motivated to keep making their work. Because of the support they have received, it encourages them to follow the example set by the kind donors and give back to their craft community at some point in their careers. William and Mary Corcoran Award inspired me to set up a small award of $500 for the Textile Studio at Sheridan. It is my way of giving back to the craft community. Thank you for being an inspiration and showing the way.
