Toronto, le 26 avril 2017 \u2013 La cr\u00e9atrice de costume, Tamara Marie Kucheran<\/strong> est la laur\u00e9ate 2017 du Prix Virginia et Myrtle Cooper pour la cr\u00e9ation de costumes<\/strong> d\u2019un montant de 20 000 dollars. Ce prix est d\u00e9cern\u00e9 tous les ans \u00e0 une costumi\u00e8re ou \u00e0 un costumier professionnel qui travaille en Ontario et qui est en milieu de sa carri\u00e8re; afin d\u2019enrichir davantage sa carri\u00e8re par le biais de recherches et de voyages.<\/p>\n

Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9e de l'Universit\u00e9 de Victoria (baccalaur\u00e9at en beaux-arts avec distinction) et de l'\u00c9cole nationale de th\u00e9\u00e2tre du Canada, Tamara a eu le privil\u00e8ge de travailler avec certains des meilleurs professionnels du th\u00e9\u00e2tre du monde sur des sc\u00e8nes \u00e0 travers le Canada.<\/p>\n

Plus r\u00e9cemment, Tamara a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9atrice de costumes et de d\u00e9cors pour \u00ab Cabaret \u00bb (Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre) et \u00ab Macbeth \u00bb (Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre). Ses r\u00e9compenses incluent un prix Dora pour excellence en conception de costume, \u00ab Outstanding Costume Design \u00bb (plus les nominations multiples pour \u00ab Set and Costume \u00bb), un prix Tyrone Guthrie (Stratford Festival) et la bourse \u00ab Ian and Molly Lindsay Young Design Fellowship \u00bb (Stratford Festival).<\/p>\n

Tamara a aussi enseign\u00e9 en tant qu\u2019artiste instructrice pour \u00ab Off the Wall Stratford Artists Alliance \u00bb, instructrice \u00e0 temps partiel \u00e0 l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Victoria (Costume Design and History of Fashion and Body Modification), et artiste et charg\u00e9 de cours invit\u00e9 \u00e0 Michigan State University.<\/p>\n

Tamara a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9e comme la gagnante au sein d'un groupe de candidats exceptionnels. Le jury de cette ann\u00e9e \u00e9tait compos\u00e9 de Kathleen Johnston<\/strong>, Superviseuse de costumes, Melanie McNeill<\/strong>, cr\u00e9atrice de costume, et Sean Mulcahy<\/strong>, cr\u00e9ateur de costume. Le jury \u00e9tait unanime dans leur \u00e9loge du travail de Tamara, indiquant que \u00ab Nous sommes tr\u00e8s impressionn\u00e9s par l'utilisation nuanc\u00e9e de Tamara de motifs et de m\u00e9langes de textiles dans ses conceptions innovantes. Elle est une conteuse. Ses conceptions d\u00e9finissent le caract\u00e8re mais n\u2019\u00e9clipsent pas les acteurs. L'engagement de Tamara \u00e0 encadrer les concepteurs \u00e9mergents enrichit les arts en Ontario. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le Prix Virginia et Myrtle Cooper pour la cr\u00e9ation de costumes, cr\u00e9\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un don g\u00e9n\u00e9reux dans le testament de la Dr Virginia Cooper, est attribu\u00e9 \u00ab pour l\u2019amour de la cr\u00e9ation \u00bb. Dr Cooper a \u00e9t\u00e9 directrice du th\u00e9\u00e2tre Tarragon et elle \u00e9tait membre fondatrice du Arts and Letters Club de Toronto, auquel elle participait activement. Elle s\u2019int\u00e9ressait vivement aux arts de la sc\u00e8ne, en particulier \u00e0 la conception des costumes.<\/p>\n
