Toronto, le 1 f\u00e9vrier, 2017 - L'artiste originaire de Toronto, Dorian FitzGerald<\/strong> est le laur\u00e9at de cette ann\u00e9e pour le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture<\/a>. Le prix d\u2019une valeur de 5 000 dollars est attribu\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e afin de reconna\u00eetre un(e) peintre r\u00e9sidant en Ontario et en milieu de carri\u00e8re.<\/p>

\"A<\/p>

Dorian FitzGerald fait des peintures monumentales de situations mat\u00e9riellement excessives. Ce th\u00e8me comprend la salle \u00e0 manger du bateau de Stefano Gabbana, la salle du tr\u00f4ne du palais national de Queluz \u00e0 Lisbonne et une image de la collection de lunettes de soleil d'Elton John dans son domaine de Old Windsor, en Angleterre.
<\/em><\/p>

Chacune des peintures a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e \u00e0 l'aide de peinture acrylique et de calfeutrage selon une m\u00e9thode lente et pr\u00e9cise que FitzGerald a affin\u00e9e dans son atelier pendant des ann\u00e9es. Le plus grand tableau de FitzGerald \u00e0 ce jour, \u00ab Hacker-Pschorr Beerhall, Oktoberfest, Munich \u00bb (2005), d\u2019un format de douze pieds de large sur dix-huit pieds de haut, lui a pris plus de trois ans pour le terminer.
<\/em><\/p>

FitzGerald est dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 2001 du programme d\u2019art et d\u2019histoire de l\u2019art de l\u2019universit\u00e9 de Toronto et du Sheridan College.
<\/em><\/p>

Le prix est d\u00e9cern\u00e9 par un jury d\u2019artistes visuels compos\u00e9 de Barry Ace<\/strong> (Ottawa), Rebecca Comber<\/strong> (Holland Centre), Roula Partheniou<\/strong> (Toronto), Julie Ren\u00e9 de Cotret<\/strong> (Hillsburgh), et Roberto Rosenman<\/strong> (Toronto). Les membres du jury \u00e9taient unanimes dans leur choix et ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab Le proc\u00e9d\u00e9 de Dorian le distingue ; Il est unique et ambitieux. Le spectateur interagit avec l\u2018\u0153uvre sur deux plans \u00e0 la fois : abstraite et photor\u00e9aliste. Le sujet documente les marqueurs de richesse et de luxe, et l'\u0153uvre et son \u00e9chelle refl\u00e8tent l\u2019opulence du sujet. \u00bb<\/p>

Le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tabli par Laura Ciruls, graphiste et conceptrice de site internet professionnelle, et aussi une peintre en acrylique et aquarelliste traditionnelle. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un legs, Laura a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture afin de reconna\u00eetre des artistes qui, comme elle, contribuent au d\u00e9veloppement de la peinture en Ontario.<\/p>
