Toronto, le 29 aout 2016: David Braid<\/strong> est le laur\u00e9at 2016 du Prix Paul de Hueck et Norman Walford d\u2019excellence de carri\u00e8re d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation au clavier<\/strong> de 20 000 $. Le Prix reconna\u00eet les r\u00e9alisations exceptionnelles dans le domaine de l\u2019interpr\u00e9tation au clavier, et a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 lors du concert de la mi-journ\u00e9e pour le gala du 25i\u00e8me<\/sup> anniversaire de \u00ab Music Monday<\/a> \u00bb dont Braid \u00e9tait la vedette.<\/p>\n

Encens\u00e9 par la presse canadienne comme \u00ab un g\u00e9nie du jazz qui nous soit propre \u00bb (Maclean\u2019s magazine), le pianiste au multiples prix Juno David Braid s\u2019est produit en concert de sa musique originale et de ses improvisations au travers de l\u2019Europe, de l\u2019Asie, de l\u2019Australie, du Br\u00e9sil, des Etats-Unis et du Canada. Combinant les principes fondamentaux de la musique classique europ\u00e9enne et la spontan\u00e9it\u00e9 du jazz am\u00e9ricain, la fusion de l\u2019art de de musique de Braid engage les publics avec un style d\u00e9crit comme \u00ab rafraichissant et hors cat\u00e9gorie \u00bb (Paris Transatlantic), \u00ab brillant \u00bb (Montr\u00e9al Gazette), \u00ab vsate et exploratoire \u00bb (South China Morning Post), \u00ab une force po\u00e9tique \u00bb (Le Soleil) et \u00ab magnifiquement lancinant \u00bb (The Globe & Mail).<\/span><\/p>\n

R\u00e9cemment, les compositions et arrangements de Braid furent une parte int\u00e9grale du film inspir\u00e9 de Chet Baker \u00ab Born to be Blue \u00bb (IFC Film) avec la star Ethan Hawke ; sa partition de jazz a re\u00e7u des louanges pour sa \u00ab patine contemporaine sans sacrifice pour l\u2019authentique de la p\u00e9riode \u00bb (The Times, Royaume-Unis).<\/p>\n

Braid est un artiste Steinway, un artiste-en-r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Toronto, et un artiste sp\u00e9cial associ\u00e9 au Sinfonia UK Collective.<\/span><\/p>\n

Braid a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi par un jury compos\u00e9 de Tom Allen<\/strong>, journaliste musical, diffuseur et musicien (Toronto, ON), Lorraine Desmarais<\/strong>, pianiste de jazz et \u00e9ducatrice (Laval, QC) et Megumi Masaki<\/strong>, pianiste classique et \u00e9ducateur (Brandon, MB). Les membres du jury ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que \u00ab David Braid est un artiste de jazz incessamment cr\u00e9atif et un compositeur inventif travaillant dans de nombreux contextes. Il est un artiste brillamment versatile mais avec un son reconnaissable imm\u00e9diatement \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Le Prix Paul de Hueck and Norman Walford<\/a> de r\u00e9alization professionnelle a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9 \u00e0 la Fondation des arts de l\u2019Ontario par feu Norman Walford, ancien directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral du Conseil des arts de l\u2019Ontario, et feu Paul de Hueck, ancien directeur de la production \u00e0 la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision anglaise de Radio-Canada. Le Conseil des arts de l\u2019Ontario est responsable du processus de nomination et de s\u00e9lection.<\/p>\n
