Toronto, le 22 juin, 2016 - Le nom des laur\u00e9ates 2016 des prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9 aujourd'hui \u00e0 la Scarborough Village Alternative\u00a0Public School<\/a> de Toronto. Les laur\u00e9ates ont \u00e9t\u00e9 choisies par deux jurys compos\u00e9s de jeunes lecteurs de cette \u00e9cole. Un jury d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves de 3e et 4e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> a choisi la laur\u00e9ate du volet Livre illustr\u00e9<\/strong> et un jury d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves de 7e et 8e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> a choisi la laur\u00e9ate du volet Livre pour jeunes lecteurs<\/strong>.<\/p>

Chacun des jeunes jur\u00e9s lit les livres s\u00e9par\u00e9ment, puis ensemble avec les autres membres de leur groupe, choisissent par consensus un laur\u00e9at. Cette d\u00e9marche rend ces prix litt\u00e9raires uniques en leur genre au Canada.<\/span><\/p>

2016 marque le 40e<\/sup> anniversaire des prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse. Le Conseil des arts de l\u2019Ontario et la Fondation des arts de l'Ontario font une r\u00e9trospective sur les 40 ans des prix dans ce compte \u00e0 rebours<\/a> des laur\u00e9ats.<\/p>

\u00ab Quand j\u2019ai appris que Mr. Postmouse\u2019s Rounds avait remport\u00e9 un prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse, j\u2019ai \u00e9t\u00e9 ravie, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 said l'auteure-illustratrice Marianne Dubuc<\/strong>. Mais quand j\u2019ai su que l\u2019album a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 par des enfants, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire par ses propres lecteurs, je me suis dit que c\u2019est absolument fantastique. C\u2019est pour vous, jeunes lecteurs, que je fais mes livres. Larsen<\/em>, qui a remport\u00e9 le prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse en 2013 dans le volet Livre pour jeunes lecteurs. Cet ouvrage a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9 en fran\u00e7ais sous le titre Le journal malgr\u00e9 lui de Henry K. Larsen<\/em><\/p>

Susin Nielsen a aussi \u00e9crit pour plusieurs s\u00e9ries de t\u00e9l\u00e9vision canadiennes, notamment Degrassi Junior High<\/em> et Heartland<\/em>.<\/p>

\u00ab Je suis tr\u00e8s honor\u00e9e par le prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse attribu\u00e9 cette ann\u00e9e \u00e0 We Are All Made of Molecules<\/em> dans le volet Livre pour jeunes lecteurs, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l\u2019auteure Susin Nielsen<\/strong>. Je regrette de ne pas avoir connu les s\u0153urs Schwartz, qui ont tant contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la litt\u00e9rature jeunesse canadienne. Et le fait que les laur\u00e9ats sont choisis par des jurys d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves font de ces prix quelque chose d\u2019unique. L'ultime r\u00e9compense, c\u2019est de savoir que mon livre atteint avec le public vis\u00e9. \u00bb<\/p>

\u00ab C\u2019est un livre \u00e0 la fois amusant, p\u00e9n\u00e9trant et inspirant, ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 les jur\u00e9s de 7e<\/sup> et 8e<\/sup> ann\u00e9e<\/strong>. Les personnages se sont d\u00e9battus avec toutes sortes de probl\u00e8mes compliqu\u00e9s d\u2019une fa\u00e7on cr\u00e9dible qui nous a interpell\u00e9s\u00ad. \u00bb Un des jur\u00e9s a dit : \u00ab Je m\u2019imagine facilement en train de relire ce livre plus d'un million de fois. Il se termine de la meilleure fa\u00e7on possible! \u00bb<\/p>

Les deux prix<\/strong>, de 6 000 $<\/strong> chacun, attibu\u00e9s chaque ann\u00e9e, rendent hommage aux auteurs et aux illustrateurs canadiens qui se sont distingu\u00e9s par leur excellence dans le domaine de la litt\u00e9rature enfantine de langue anglaise.<\/p>

Le comit\u00e9 de s\u00e9lection de cette ann\u00e9e se composait d'Ellie Contursi<\/strong> (biblioth\u00e9caire pour enfants, Biblioth\u00e8que publique de London), de Mary Lumsden<\/strong> (copropri\u00e9taire de la librairie Mill Street Books, Almonte) et d'Eva Wills<\/strong> (enseignante-biblioth\u00e9caire, Alexander Muir \/ Gladstone Avenue Junior and Senior Public School, Toronto).<\/p>

La Fondation des arts de l'Ontario administre ces prix avec l'aide du Conseil des arts de l'Ontario, qui g\u00e8re le processus de mise en candidature et de s\u00e9lection par jury.
