Toronto, le 19 janvier 2016 \u2013 L\u2019artist originaire de Orangeville Steven Volpe<\/strong> est le laur\u00e9at 2016 de cette ann\u00e9e pour le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture<\/a>. Le prix d\u2019une valeur de 4 500 dollars est attribu\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e afin de reconna\u00eetre un(e) peintre r\u00e9sidant en Ontario et en mileu de carri\u00e8re.<\/p>

Steven Volpe<\/a> a un dipl\u00f4me en beaux-arts de l\u2019universit\u00e9 Queen's University ainsi que de l'exp\u00e9rience en enseignement artistique et en design graphique. Ses peintures figuratives \u00e9vocatrices se situent quelque part entre une parabole et un instantan\u00e9, invitant une interpr\u00e9tation r\u00e9fl\u00e9chie tout en conservant une plausibilit\u00e9 confortable et coh\u00e9rente. Des gestes accidentels de la vie quotidienne deviennent plus grands que la vie par le fait que l'artiste attribue de nouvelles identit\u00e9s \u00e0 de parfaits inconnus.<\/p>

Le travail de Steven Volpe a fait parti d\u2019expositions \u00e0 la Galerie d\u2019Avignon<\/a> (Montr\u00e9al, QC), la Bartlett Gallery et la Headwaters Arts Gallery au Centre artistique Alton Mill Arts Centre<\/a> (Caledon), la Art Gallery of Mississauga<\/a> (Mississauga), la Beaux-Arts Gallery<\/a> (Brampton), et va \u00eatre montr\u00e9 durant la foire Artist Project Contemporary Art Fair<\/a> au Better Living Centre, Exhibition Place \u00e0 Toronto en f\u00e9vrier. Steven est repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par la Galerie d'Avignon, (Montr\u00e9al, QC).<\/p>

Les membres du jury \u00e9taient unanimes dans leur choix et ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab les peintures de Steven Volpe r\u00e9v\u00e8lent une voix individuelle forte et ses portraits nous racontent plus qu\u2019une histoire. \u00bb<\/p>

Le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tabli par Laura Ciruls<\/strong>, graphiste et conceptrice de site internet professionnelle, et aussi une peintre en acrylique et aquarelliste traditionnelle. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un legs, Laura a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture afin de reconna\u00eetre des artistes qui, comme elle, contribuaient au d\u00e9veloppement de la peinture en Ontario.<\/p>

Le Fonds Laura Ciruls en peinture est administr\u00e9 par la Fondation des arts de l'Ontario. Le Conseil des arts de l'Ontario g\u00e8re le processus de s\u00e9lection du prix. Le prix est d\u00e9cern\u00e9 par un jury d'artistes visuels compos\u00e9 de R. Brendan Fernandes<\/strong> (Newmarket), Jennifer Lefort<\/strong> (Gatineau), Tor Lukasik-Foss<\/strong> (Hamilton), and Corwyn Lund<\/strong> (Toronto).<\/p>
