Toronto, le 30 septembre 2015<\/strong> \u2013 Lorrie Gallant<\/strong> est la r\u00e9cipiendaire du premier Prix des artistes \u00e9ducateurs de la Fondation des arts de l\u2019Ontario<\/strong> d\u2019une valeur de 7 500 $<\/strong>. Le Prix est attribu\u00e9 \u00e0 un r\u00e9sident de l\u2019Ontario qui incarne l'excellence dans l'\u00e9ducation artistique, d\u00e9montre une approche unique dans leur pratique de l'\u00e9ducation artistique, cr\u00e9e des exp\u00e9riences d'apprentissage significatives pour les jeunes personnes, inspire des connexions aux arts au-del\u00e0 de la salle de classe et continue de maintenir une pratique artistique active.<\/p>

\"Picture<\/p>

Lorrie Gallant est une \u00e9crivaine, illustratrice, conteuse, et artiste visuelle des Six Nations du territoire de la rivi\u00e8re Grand. Elle est l'auteure<\/a> et l\u2019illustratrice de livres pour enfants, \u00ab Bread and Cheese <\/em>\u00bb, \u00ab Noi:a Noi:a <\/em>\u00bb, \u00ab Border Crossing <\/em>\u00bb, et \u00ab The Big Dig, Adventure series <\/em>\u00bb et elle travaille actuellement sur \u00ab Little Lorrie and a Big Bowl of Corn Soup<\/em> \u00bb qui sera illustr\u00e9 en argile.<\/p>

En tant que coordinatrice du Programme \u00e9ducatif du Centre culturel Woodland<\/strong> \u00e0 Brantford, Lorrie utlise ses talents pour r\u00e9v\u00e9ler les riches culture et traditions des peuple autochtones au travers d\u2019ateliers \u00e9ducatifs bas\u00e9s sur les arts. Lorrie a travaill\u00e9 sur un projet artistique communautaire pour produire des livres pour enfants sur l\u2019histoire de Wahta et du territoire mohawk de Tyendinaga et le livre \u00ab The Voice of Our Elders<\/em> \u00bb pour la communaut\u00e9 des Six Nations. Lorrie a continu\u00e9 ce \u00ab Projet des anciens \u00bb et a dor\u00e9navant collabor\u00e9 \u00e0 la publication de six livres suppl\u00e9mentaires et d\u2019un livre de compilation d\u2019histoires des anciens et d\u2019images des Six Nations. En collaboration avec des jeunes, Lorrie a facilit\u00e9 la cr\u00e9ation du livre \u00ab Voices of Our Athletes<\/em> \u00bb, bas\u00e9 des ds images et ds histoires d\u2019athl\u00e8tes autochtones. La relation entre les jeunes et les anciens est tr\u00e8s importante pour Lorrie et elle a continu\u00e9 ses projets artistiques interg\u00e9n\u00e9rationnels pour rassembler des \u00e9l\u00e8ves des \u00e9coles secondaires et des survivants des pensionnats autochtones afin de cr\u00e9er deux expositions artistiques intitul\u00e9es \u00ab Walking Together. \u00bb Son but dans tous ce qu\u2019elle fait est d\u2019\u00e9duquer et d\u2019inspirer les gens \u00e0 pr\u00e9server leur culture et traditions et \u00e8 c\u00e9l\u00e9brer qui ils sont dans le monde contemporain.<\/p>

Lorrie a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9e comme gagnante parmi un group de nomin\u00e9s de haut calibre. Le jury de cette ann\u00e9e \u00e9tait compos\u00e9 de Mehdi Hamdad<\/strong>, po\u00e8te, artiste de cr\u00e9ations orales (Ottawa), Serene Porter<\/strong>, photographe (Ohsweken), et Gzhe Hilary Wear<\/strong>, clown, artiste du th\u00e9\u00e2tre physique (Keene). Le jury \u00e9tait honor\u00e9 de choisir Lorrie comme laur\u00e9ate inaugurale ; d\u00e9clarant que \u00ab Lorrie est une artiste qui incarne bien les id\u00e9aux de l'\u00e9ducation artistique. Son utilisation de l'art contemporain infus\u00e9 avec des savoirs traditionnels est transformatrice, et elle cr\u00e9e des connexions artistiques et culturelles au-del\u00e0 de la salle de classe pour les \u00e9l\u00e8ves. \u00bb<\/p>

La Fondation des arts de l'Ontario<\/a> a \u00e9tabli et g\u00e8re le fonds de dotation qui finance le Prix des artistes \u00e9ducateurs. Le bureau des prix du Conseil des arts de l'Ontario<\/a> administre les processus de nomination et de s\u00e9lection pour le prix. Les jurys du CAO nominent des artistes au sein de la liste des candidats aux programmes Artistes en milieu \u00e9ducatif et Artistes autochtones dans les \u00e9coles, ou bien d'autres artistes qui sont connus par le jur\u00e9.<\/p>

La Fondation des arts de l\u2019Ontario<\/strong><\/a> (FAO) est passionn\u00e9ment engag\u00e9e \u00e0 renforcer le soutien \u00e0 long terme pour les arts en Ontario. Depuis plus de cinquante ans, le Conseil des arts de l'Ontario<\/strong><\/a> (CAO) joue un r\u00f4le essentiel dans la promotion et l'aide au d\u00e9veloppement des arts pour le profit de tous les Ontariens et Ontariennes.
