Toronto, le 15 mai, 2015 - Le nom des laur\u00e9ats 2015 des prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9 aujourd'hui \u00e0 la Alexander Muir \/ Gladstone Avenue Junior and Senior Public School<\/a> de Toronto. Les laur\u00e9ats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 choisis par deux jurys compos\u00e9s de jeunes lecteurs de cette \u00e9cole. Un jury d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves de 3e et 4e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> a choisi les laur\u00e9ates du volet Livre illustr\u00e9<\/strong> et un jury d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves de 7e et 8e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> a choisi le laur\u00e9at du volet Livre pour jeunes lecteurs<\/strong>.<\/p>

Chacun des jeunes jur\u00e9s lit les livres s\u00e9par\u00e9ment, puis ensemble avec les autres membres de leur groupe, choisissent par consensus un laur\u00e9at. Cette d\u00e9marche rend ces prix litt\u00e9raires uniques en leur genre au Canada.<\/span><\/p>

\u00abJe suis extr\u00eamement reconnaissante aux merveilleux jeunes lecteurs qui ont s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 ce livre, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l\u2019auteure, Kathy Kacer<\/strong>. C\u2019est tellement important de continuer \u00e0 raconter l\u2019Holocauste pour qu\u2019il ne soit pas oubli\u00e9 par les prochaines g\u00e9n\u00e9rations \u2013 et c\u2019est ce que vous, les jeunes, contribuez \u00e0 faire. \u00bb<\/p>

C\u2019est la premi\u00e8re fois qu\u2019elle remporte un prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse.<\/span><\/p>

\u00ab C\u2019est pour moi un honneur que de recevoir ce prix aux cot\u00e9s de Kathy, a dit l'illustratrice Gillian Newland<\/strong>. En tant qu\u2019artiste, c\u2019\u00e9tait \u00e0 la fois difficile et valorisant d\u2019illustrer une histoire pleine de sensibilit\u00e9 et de gentillesse, qui se d\u00e9roule pourtant dans un contexte si sombre. Je suis si contente d\u2019apprendre que le livre a plu aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves et les a aussi inspir\u00e9s. \u00bb<\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>

Werner \u00e9tait un gar\u00e7on comme nous. Le c\u00f4t\u00e9 sombre des ilustrations cadre bien avec l\u2019histoire. \u00bb<\/p>

\u00ab C\u2019est particuli\u00e8rement gratifiant de recevoir ce prix parce que le laur\u00e9at est choisi par un jury de jeunes lecteurs \u2013 exactement le public pour lequel j\u2019\u00e9cris, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l\u2019auteur, Kenneth Oppel<\/strong>. Leur approbation est un superbe cadeau. \u00bb<\/p>

Les deux prix<\/strong>, de 6 000 $<\/strong> chacun, attibu\u00e9s chaque ann\u00e9e, rendent hommage aux auteurs et aux illustrateurs canadiens qui se sont distingu\u00e9s par leur excellence dans le domaine de la litt\u00e9rature enfantine de langue anglaise.<\/p>

Le comit\u00e9 de s\u00e9lection de cette ann\u00e9e se composait de Mandy Brouse\u00a0<\/strong> (copropri\u00e9taire, Words Worth Books, Waterloo), Brianne Peters\u00a0<\/strong> (biblioth\u00e9caire, services \u00e0 l'enfance, biblioth\u00e8que publique de Kingston Frontenac) et Rachel Seigel\u00a0<\/strong> (Achats et s\u00e9lection, Edu Reference, Toronto).<\/p>
