Toronto - le 16 d\u00e9cembre 2014<\/strong> \u2013 Le compositeur Mychael Danna<\/strong> est le laur\u00e9at du Prix Louis Applebaum<\/strong> pour les compositeurs 2014. La r\u00e9compense de 10 000 dollars<\/strong> de cette ann\u00e9e reconnait l\u2019excellence de l\u2019ensemble d\u2019un \u0153uvre dans le domaine de la composition de la musique pour le cin\u00e9ma et la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision.<\/p>

Mychael Danna<\/strong> est un compositeur de musique de film prim\u00e9 aux Oscars reconnu pour son m\u00e9lange \u00e9vocateur des traditions non occidentales avec la musique orchestrale et \u00e9lectronique. Il a compos\u00e9 la partition d\u2019inspiration transculturelle prim\u00e9e aux Oscars et aux Golden Globe en 2013 pour \u00ab La vie de Pi<\/a> \u00bb d'Ang Lee, ainsi que de nombreux scores prim\u00e9s pour son collaborateur de longue date, Atom Egoyan. Danna a compos\u00e9 pour tous les films d\u2019Egoyan depuis Family Viewing<\/a> en 1987, remportant le G\u00e9nie pour les films Exotica<\/a>, Le voyage de Felicia<\/a>, Ararat<\/a> et De beaux lendemains<\/a>. Son nom figure aussi au g\u00e9n\u00e9rique de films oscaris\u00e9s et nomin\u00e9s aux Oscars tels que Moneyball<\/a>, Capote<\/a>, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus<\/a>, Monsoon Wedding<\/a>, Shattered Glass<\/a>, Little Miss Sunshine<\/a>, (500) Days of Summer<\/a>, Surf\u2019s Up<\/a>, Water<\/a>, Antwone Fisher<\/a>, Being Julia<\/a> et Girl, Interrupted<\/a>.<\/p>

\u00ab Les exp\u00e9riences cin\u00e9matographiques les plus gratifiantes sont celles qui demandent un effort pour \u00e9plucher les couches entourant le c\u0153ur de l'histoire afin de trouver la meilleure expression musicale de ce c\u0153ur \u00bb, dit Danna. \u00ab Ce sont toujours ces musiques de film dont je suis le plus fier. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>

Les membres du jury ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que \u00ab la musique de Mychael Danna<\/strong> est belle, sensible, raffin\u00e9e et tr\u00e8s originale. Sa musique n\u2019exprime pas seulement ce qui est vu et dit, mais cr\u00e9e une r\u00e9ponse \u00e9motionnelle plus profonde au r\u00e9cit. L'effet est pleinement engageant. La contribution de Mychael Danna \u00e0 la discipline artistique est profonde. Il est un compositeur de premier ordre \u00e0 Hollywood qui redonne \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 et \u00e0 ses pairs, de mani\u00e8re d\u00e9sint\u00e9ress\u00e9e. \u00bb<\/p>

Mychael a g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de faire don de ce prix \u00e0 la Facult\u00e9 de musique de l'Universit\u00e9 de Toronto<\/strong>, o\u00f9 Mychael \u00e9tait le premier visiteur distingu\u00e9 en composition de musique de film Louis Applebaum (\u00ab Louis Applebaum Distinguished Visitor in Film Composition \u00bb) \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 de Toronto en 2011.<\/p>

\u00ab Je suis ravi de recevoir ce prix, nomm\u00e9 apr\u00e8s un homme qui a ouvert la voie aux compositeurs canadiens de musique de cin\u00e9ma, de la t\u00e9l\u00e9vision et du th\u00e9\u00e2tre, \u00bb dit Danna. \u00ab J\u2019ai imm\u00e9diatement pens\u00e9 \u00e0 mon alma mater la Facult\u00e9 de musique de l'Universit\u00e9 de Toronto, qui fut si importante pour le lancement de ma carri\u00e8re dans la musique de film. Louis Applebaum a inspir\u00e9 ma g\u00e9n\u00e9ration avec nos premiers pas, et je suis tr\u00e8s heureux de passer cette r\u00e9compense pour aider \u00e0 la formation de la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de compositeurs au Canada. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>

Le Fonds Louis Applebaum<\/strong> pour les compositeurs a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tabli \u00e0 la Fondation des arts de l'Ontario en 1998 par Louis Applebaum<\/strong> pour reconna\u00eetre l\u2019excellence en composition musicale quant \u00e0 tout genre que se soit. Le compositeur canadien Louis Applebaum a consacr\u00e9 sa vie au r\u00e9veil culturel du Canada et cette magnifique obsession l\u2019a amen\u00e9 \u00e0 devenir un fondateur de la Ligue canadienne des compositeurs ainsi que du Centre de musique canadienne. Il a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation de l\u2019Office national du film du Canada, du festival de Stratford et du Centre national des Arts, \u00e0 Ottawa.<\/p>

La Fondation des arts de l\u2019Ontario<\/strong> g\u00e8re le fonds de dotation qui finance le prix. Le Conseil des arts de l\u2019Ontario<\/strong> administre le processus de nomination et de s\u00e9lection. Le laur\u00e9at a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 par un jury compos\u00e9 de Maxime Goulet<\/strong>, compositeur (Montr\u00e9al), Paul Hoffert<\/strong>, compositeur, \u00e9ducateur, auteur et pr\u00e9sident de la Ligue canadienne des compositeurs (Toronto), et Lea Marin<\/strong>, productrice de films (Toronto).<\/p>

Les pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents laur\u00e9ats du Prix Louis Applebaum pour les compositeurs sont : Dean Burry<\/strong> (composition pour jeunes personnes), David Virelles<\/strong> (jazz), James Rolfe<\/strong> (th\u00e9\u00e2tre, th\u00e9\u00e2tre musical, danse ou op\u00e9ra), Alexina Louie<\/strong> et Alex Pauk (cin\u00e9ma et t\u00e9l\u00e9vision), et R.
