Toronto, le 10 f\u00e9vrier 2014\u2013 L\u2019artiste de Kitchener Melissa Doherty<\/a><\/strong> est la laur\u00e9ate 2014 du Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture<\/strong><\/a>. Le prix d\u2019une valeur de 4 500 dollars est attribu\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e afin de reconna\u00eetre un(e) peintre r\u00e9sidant en Ontario et en mileu de carri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Melissa Doherty\u00a0<\/strong> a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 de Waterloo, o\u00f9 elle a obtenu un baccalaur\u00e9at \u00e8s arts (beaux-arts, sp\u00e9cialisation Studio) et a re\u00e7u le Prix de reconnaissance des anciens universitaires en arts (Arts in Academics Alumni Recognition Award<\/em>). Elle fait partie de la publication de la Fondation Magenta \u00ab Carte Blanche Volume 2 : peinture \u00bb, une enqu\u00eate aupr\u00e8s des peintres canadiens contemporains, et a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 pour le Concours de peintures canadiennes de RBC.<\/p>\n

Le travail de Melissa Doherty a \u00e9t\u00e9 inclus dans des expositions au Centre Harbourfront, au MacDonald Stewart Art Centre, \u00e0 la Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, et la Christinerose Gallery, New York. Ses expositions individuelles incluent le Mus\u00e9e des Beaux-Arts de Sherbrooke au Qu\u00e9bec, la Galerie d'art Doris McCarthy \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Toronto, l'Universit\u00e9 Wilfrid Laurier et plus r\u00e9cemment, la Art Gallery of Peterborough. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un legs, Laura a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture afin de reconna\u00eetre des artistes qui, comme elle, contribuaient au d\u00e9veloppement de la peinture en Ontario.<\/p>\n
