Toronto \u2013 le 16 f\u00e9vrier 2012 \u2013 La Fondation des arts de l'Ontario a le plaisir d'annoncer un nouveau prix pour les arts visuels. Le Prix Laura Ciruls de peinture<\/strong> sera attribu\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e afin de reconnaitre un(e) peintre r\u00e9sidant en Ontario qui a pass\u00e9 les premi\u00e8res \u00e9tapes de sa carri\u00e8re professionnelle.<\/p>\n

L'artiste\u00a0Jinny Yu\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>est la premi\u00e8re laur\u00e9ate du prix de 3 500 $. Melle<\/sup> Yu a expos\u00e9 largement, y compris des expositions \u00e0 la\u00a0ISCP Gallery<\/a>\u00a0(Brooklyn),\u00a0Pulse New York<\/a>\u00a0(NY),\u00a0la Fondation Bevilacqua La Masa<\/a>\u00a0(Venice), le Mus\u00e9e municipal d'art de Kyoto<\/a>\u00a0(Kyoto), la Conduit Street Gallery, Sotheby's (London, UK),\u00a0Carleton University Art Gallery<\/a>\u00a0(Ottawa), le\u00a0Mus\u00e9e du Centre des arts de la conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration<\/a>\u00a0(Charlottetown), et McMaster Museum of Art<\/a>\u00a0(Hamilton).<\/p>\n

Dans son \u0153uvre, Jinny Yu<\/a> essaie de simultan\u00e9ment scruter les conventions de la peinture et d'explorer de nouvelles possibilit\u00e9s avec le m\u00e9dium. Oscillant entre les champs de la peinture abstraite et de l'objet, ses \u0153uvres explorent des aspects de la peinture au-del\u00e0 de l'espace pictural. Elle s'efforce de d\u00e9peindre ce qui est au-del\u00e0 de l'image et r\u00e9v\u00e8le d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment l'aspect gestuel de la peinture en tant que praxis.<\/p>\n

Melle<\/sup> Yu a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisie \u00e0 l'unanimit\u00e9 parmi un groupe de nomin\u00e9s \u00e0 la fin du jury pour le programme de subventions du Conseil des arts de l'Ontario pour les Artistes visuels en milieu de carri\u00e8re. La responsable du programme a organis\u00e9 une discussion afin de solliciter des nominations pour le Prix, et les candidats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 nomin\u00e9s parmi la liste de demandeurs pour le concours de subventions en cours. Le jury a choisi un laur\u00e9at pour le prix. Le jury a remarqu\u00e9 que la peinture de Jinny \u00ab est conceptuellement radicale et repousse les conventions de la peinture au-del\u00e0 de l'image. Elle poss\u00e8de un sens sculptural fort et utilise son art pour r\u00e9aliser son identit\u00e9 en tant que \u00ebnomade globale. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Le Prix Laura Ciruls de peinture a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tabli par Laura Ciruls, graphiste et conceptrice de site internet professionnelle, et aussi une peintre en acrylique et aquarelliste traditionnelle. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un legs, Laura a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le Prix Laura Ciruls de peinture afin de reconna\u00eftre des artistes qui, comme elle, contribuaient au d\u00e9veloppement de la peinture en Ontario.<\/p>\n
