2010<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0\u2013 The Ontario Arts Foundation announced comedian\u00a0<b><strong>Mike Rita<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0as this year&#8217;s recipient of the\u00a0<b><strong>$5,000 Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award.<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0 The award is presented to promising comedic performers or troupes in the early stages of their comedy careers.\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mike was chosen as the winner at the Cream of Comedy performance, which showcased the five finalists for the award at Second City.\u00a0\u00a0Mike is a young comic from the gritty west side of Toronto.\u00a0\u00a0He is an observational comic with a mix of street smarts and funny who has learned to take his street savvy ways into the comedy clubs.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The winner is selected by a jury composed of members of the comedy community, from nominations.\u00a0\u00a0This year`s jury consisted of Brian Barlow, Calvin Storoschuk, Dawn Whitwell, Linda Ellis and Lisa Merchant.\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0year, the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund was established in memory of Toronto comedic performer, Tim Sims.\u00a0\u00a0Previous winners include Nathan Fielder (<em>This Hour Has 22 Minute<\/em>, CBC), Craig Lauzon and Jessica Holmes (<em>Air Farce<\/em>, CBC).<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Tim Sims Encouragement Fund is
