Toronto, le 25 avril 2007<\/strong> \u2013 Le nom des auteurs et illustrateurs s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9s pour les prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse 2007<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 annonc\u00e9 aujourd'hui (voir liste ci-jointe<\/a>). Ces auteurs et illustrateurs viennent de tous les coins du Canada, notamment d'Edmonton, Qu\u00e9bec, Saskatoon, St. John's, Vancouver, Ottawa, Simcoe, Peterborough, Perth et Millbrook en Ontario.<\/p>

Les prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse<\/strong> \u2013 l'un d\u00e9cern\u00e9 \u00e0 un livre illustr\u00e9<\/strong>, l'autre \u00e0 un livre pour jeunes lecteurs<\/strong> \u2013 rendent hommage aux auteurs et illustrateurs canadiens qui se sont d\u00e9marqu\u00e9s par leur excellence dans le domaine de la litt\u00e9rature enfantine. Le laur\u00e9at de chaque volet re\u00c1oit un prix de 5 000 $<\/strong>.<\/p>

Deux jurys, compos\u00e9s d'\u00e9l\u00cbves de l'\u00e9cole \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire publique Parkdale<\/strong> de Toronto (Ontario), \u00e9valueront les livres et annonceront le nom des laur\u00e9ats le 1er juin 2007<\/strong>.<\/p>

Des \u00e9l\u00cbves de 7e et 8e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> \u00e9valueront les livres dans le volet Livre pour jeunes lecteurs<\/strong> et choisissent l'auteur prim\u00e9. Des \u00e9l\u00cbves de 3e et 4e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> choisiront le meilleur livre illustr\u00e9<\/strong> ; dans ce volet, l'auteur et l'illustrateur se partagent le prix.<\/p>

Sylvia Schwartz avait cr\u00e9\u00e9 ce prix en 1976 \u00e0 la m\u00e9moire de sa s\u00faur Ruth Schwartz, libraire torontoise respect\u00e9e. Sylvia \u00e9tait une photographe bien connue \u00e0 Toronto des ann\u00e9es 1940 jusqu'au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1960 et aimait beaucoup les enfants. En 2004, la famille a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de lui rendre hommage et d'inclure son nom dans le prix, appel\u00e9 d\u00e9sormais prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse<\/strong>.<\/p>

Ces prix sont administr\u00e9s conjointement par le Conseil des arts de l'Ontario<\/strong> (qui choisit l'\u00e9cole et les jurys), la Fondation des arts de l'Ontario<\/strong>, la Fondation Ruth Schwartz<\/strong> et l'Association des libraires canadiens<\/strong> (dont les membres s\u00e9lectionnent les livres mis en lice).<\/p>
