Toronto, le 24 juin 2019 \u2013 La cr\u00e9atrice de costume, Joanna Yu<\/a> est la laur\u00e9ate 2019 du Prix Virginia et Myrtle Cooper pour la cr\u00e9ation de costumes<\/strong> d\u2019un montant de 20 000 dollars. Ce prix est d\u00e9cern\u00e9 tous les ans \u00e0 une costumi\u00e8re ou \u00e0 un costumier professionnel qui travaille en Ontario et qui est en milieu de sa carri\u00e8re; afin d\u2019enrichir davantage sa carri\u00e8re par le biais de recherches et de voyages.<\/p>\n

A propos Joanna Yu<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Joanna Yu a cr\u00e9\u00e9 les costumes et les d\u00e9cors pour de nombreux organismes des arts du spectacle y compris le Festival de Stratford Festival, le festival Shaw, Young People\u2019s Theatre, Tarragon Theatre, Buddies in Bad Times, le Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Neptune Theatre, the Grand, Why Not Theatre, Factory Theatre, Obsidian, Nightwood, Cahoots, Musical Stage Co., Theatre Passe Muraille et le Blyth Festival. Joanna a \u00e9t\u00e9 conceptrice assistante avec Soulpepper, la Canadian Opera Company et le Festival Stratford.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 artiste \/ conceptrice invit\u00e9 au Humber College, au Sheridan College, au George Brown College, \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 Ryerson, \u00e0 la Randolph Academy for the Arts et a \u00e9t\u00e9 conf\u00e9renci\u00e8re \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 York.<\/span><\/p>\n

Laur\u00e9ate du prix Pauline McGibbon 2017<\/a>, Joanna va r\u00e9aliser les d\u00e9cors pour \u00ab Much Ado about Nothing \u00bb et \u00ab Measure for Measure \u00bb \u00e0 Shakespeare in High Park de Canadian Stage, les d\u00e9cors et les costumes pour la premi\u00e8re mondiale de \u00ab Yaga \u00bb de Kat Sandler au Tarragon Theatre, ainsi que des d\u00e9cors et les costumes pour \u00ab Pinocchio \u00bb au Young People\u2019s Theatre.<\/p>\n

Le jury \u00e9tait unanime dans leur \u00e9loge du travail de Joanna, indiquant que \u00ab le travail de Joanna est magnifique et refl\u00e8te une large gamme d\u2019expressions. Ses cr\u00e9ations r\u00e9v\u00e8lent une compr\u00e9hension des palettes, textures, proportions et de l'histoire. Joanna montre une curiosit\u00e9 et une fantaisie artistique dans son utilisation des motifs. Virginia Cooper a cr\u00e9\u00e9 ce prix afin de c\u00e9l\u00e9brer l'amour de la cr\u00e9ation. Les costumes de Joanna sont la parfaite manifestation de ce souhait. \u00bb<\/span><\/p>\n

Joanna a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9e comme la gagnante au sein d'un groupe de candidats exceptionnels. A propos le prix<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n

Le Prix Virginia et Myrtle Cooper pour la cr\u00e9ation de costumes, cr\u00e9\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un don g\u00e9n\u00e9reux dans le testament de la Dr Virginia Cooper, est attribu\u00e9 \u00ab pour l\u2019amour de la cr\u00e9ation \u00bb. Dr Cooper a \u00e9t\u00e9 directrice du th\u00e9\u00e2tre Tarragon et elle \u00e9tait membre fondatrice du Arts and Letters Club de Toronto, auquel elle participait activement. Elle s\u2019int\u00e9ressait vivement aux arts de la sc\u00e8ne, en particulier \u00e0 la conception des costumes.<\/p>\n

La Fondation des arts de l'Ontario g\u00e8re le fonds de dotation qui finance le Prix. Le Conseil des arts de l\u2019Ontario g\u00e8re le processus de nomination et de s\u00e9lection pour le prix.<\/p>\n
