Toronto, le 12 f\u00e9vrier, 2018 - L'artiste originaire de Hamilton, Daniel Hutchinson<\/strong> est le laur\u00e9at de cette ann\u00e9e pour le Prix Laura Ciruls en peinture<\/a>. Le prix d\u2019une valeur de 5 000 dollars est attribu\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e afin de reconna\u00eetre un(e) peintre r\u00e9sidant en Ontario et en milieu de carri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Daniel Hutchinson a obtenu son baccalaur\u00e9at en beaux-arts de l'Institut Emily Carr de Vancouver et son Master en beaux-arts de l'Universit\u00e9 NSCAD de Halifax. Il a mont\u00e9 des expositions solo au YYZ Artists\u2019 Outlet (Toronto) et \u00e0 la Galerie d'art de l'Universit\u00e9 Saint Mary's (Halifax), et a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l'enqu\u00eate nationale \u00ab Le Projet Peinture : Un aper\u00e7u de la peinture canadienne \u00bb \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, et \u00ab Than Two (Let It Make Itelf) \u00bb \u00e0 la galerie The Power Plant (Toronto).<\/p>\n

Parmi ses distinctions se trouvent deux fois demi-finaliste au Concours de peintures canadiennes RBC, une r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 la Foundation Brucebo (Su\u00e8de) et des subventions de projets du Conseil des arts de l'Ontario et du Conseil des arts du Canada. Hutchinson enseigne la peinture et le dessin \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 OCAD et \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 de Guelph. L'exposition \u00ab Tin Vision \u00bb de Hutchinson peut actuellement \u00eatre vue \u00e0 la galerie Angell de Toronto.<\/p>\n

Le prix est d\u00e9cern\u00e9 par un jury d\u2019artistes visuels compos\u00e9 de Jason Baerg<\/strong> (Toronto), Christian Bernard Singer<\/strong> (Georgian Bluffs), Erika DeFreitas<\/strong> (Toronto), Jamelie Hassan<\/strong> (London), et Gavin Lynch<\/strong> (Wakefield, QC). Les membres du jury \u00e9taient unanimes dans leur choix et ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : \u00ab Les \u0153uvres de Hutchinson apportent de r\u00e9elles contributions \u00e0 la peinture canadienne. Elles refl\u00e8tent sur la mani\u00e8re de peindre, en se concentrant sur la consid\u00e9ration physique de la lumi\u00e8re et en poussant notre compr\u00e9hension du m\u00e9dium. Hutchinson explore continuellement, jamais satisfait de ses accomplissements et avide de d\u2019avantage de d\u00e9couverte. En outre, il est un membre actif de sa communaut\u00e9 et accroit l'impact de son \u0153uvre \u00e0 travers son travail en tant qu'enseignant. \u00bb<\/p>\n
