That doesn\u2019t mean, we won\u2019t be subject to short term\u00a0\u2018swings\u2019\u00a0in value, but a focus on capital preservation and growing it responsibly can mitigate the day to day and month to month market volatility. Most importantly, for our donors and arts organizations, our investment strategy is structured to continue to deliver a stable source of annual income, revenue arts organizations can count on for the long term.<br \/><br \/><\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span class=\"plain_grey\"><span class=\"blue\"><strong>But what should you do as an arts organization in this environment?<\/strong><\/span><br \/>This recent blog post\u00a0<a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.westaf.org\/2018\/12\/what-do-you-do-if-economy-goes-south.html\">Barry<\/a><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.westaf.org\/2018\/12\/what-do-you-do-if-economy-goes-south.html\">\u2019<\/a><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.westaf.org\/2018\/12\/what-do-you-do-if-economy-goes-south.html\">s blog\u00a0<\/a><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.westaf.org\/2018\/12\/what-do-you-do-if-economy-goes-south.html\">\u2013 \u201c<\/a><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.westaf.org\/2018\/12\/what-do-you-do-if-economy-goes-south.html\">What Do You Do if the Economy Goes South<\/a><a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.westaf.org\/2018\/12\/what-do-you-do-if-economy-goes-south.html\">\u201d<\/a>\u00a0offers suggestions, that make good sense for positioning themselves for financial stability. Arts and culture organizations are often under-capitalized and may not have deep operating reserves, and earned income is often not sufficient to offset changes in other revenue sources such as government grants, performance\/exhibition revenue or donor gifts.
