Award.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong><span class=\"blue\">What are you currently doing?<\/span><\/strong><\/p><p><span class=\"plain_grey\">At 78, I\u2019m definitely at a stage when my professional activity is slowing down, but I still keep my fingers busy and play a limited number of engagements every year. \u00a0In addition, I have remained busy in the recording studio since being named the first recipient. \u00a0Highlights include integral sets of the Beethoven (Juno short-listed) and Mozart piano sonatas plus major works by Schumann and Brahms. \u00a0Recently, a second batch of 22 Beethoven sonatas, recorded live, is due for on-line release, as is a vinyl album of late works by Chopin. \u00a0Also, in 2013 I was named to the Order of Canada.<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"plain_grey\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"blue\"><strong>What did receiving the\u00a0Paul deHueck and Norman Walford Career Achievement Award in Keyboard Artistry mean to you?<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/p><p><span class=\"plain_grey\">Receiving an honour that one cannot apply for is always gratifying, of course. \u00a0Through my various professional activities, the cash prize quickly made its way to others who work diligently in the classical music \u201cindustry.\u201d\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p><p><span class=\"blue\"><strong>What does private arts philanthropy mean to you as a working artist?<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><span class=\"plain_grey\">Given the struggle that so many independent artists face daily, private arts philanthropy plays a crucial role in the cultural life of a country on a national and regional scale.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Classical
