Toronto, le 15 mai 2025 \u2013 Le Conseil des arts de l\u2019Ontario (CAO) et la Fondation des arts de l\u2019Ontario (FAO) ont annonc\u00e9 aujourd\u2019hui les finalistes<\/strong> des prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse<\/a>2025. Les prix Schwartz sont les seuls prix litt\u00e9raires canadiens<\/strong> dont les livres prim\u00e9s sont choisis par des jurys compos\u00e9s d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves.<\/p>

Des jurys d'\u00e9l\u00e8ves de la Birch Cliff Heights Public School<\/strong> (Ontario), d\u00e9battront des livres en lice pour parvenir \u00e0 un consensus sur les laur\u00e9ats de 2025. Les livres prim\u00e9s seront annonc\u00e9s lors d'un \u00e9v\u00e8nement pr\u00e9vu plus tard au cours du mois.<\/p>

LES PRIX RUTH ET SYLVIA SCHWARTZ DE LITT\u00c9RATURE JEUNESSE<\/strong><\/p>

Deux prix<\/strong> de 6 000 $ chacun<\/strong> attribu\u00e9s chaque ann\u00e9e, rendent hommage aux auteurs et aux illustrateurs canadiens qui se sont distingu\u00e9s par leur excellence dans le domaine de la litt\u00e9rature enfantine de langue anglaise. Les laur\u00e9ats sont choisis par deux jurys de jeunes lecteurs qui, cette ann\u00e9e, sont des \u00e9l\u00e8ves de Birch Cliff Heights Public School<\/strong>. Cinq \u00e9l\u00e8ves de 4e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> choisiront le laur\u00e9at dans le volet Livre illustr\u00e9<\/strong>. Cinq \u00e9l\u00e8ves de 8e ann\u00e9e<\/strong> choisiront le laur\u00e9at dans le volet Livre pour jeunes lecteurs<\/strong>.<\/p>

Les prix Ruth et Sylvia Schwartz de litt\u00e9rature jeunesse ont \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9s en 1976 par Sylvia Schwartz \u00e0 la m\u00e9moire de sa s\u0153ur Ruth, libraire torontoise respect\u00e9e. En 2004, la famille a rebaptis\u00e9 le prix pour rendre hommage aux deux s\u0153urs. La FAO administre ces prix avec l'aide du CAO, qui g\u00e8re le processus de mise en candidature et de s\u00e9lection par jury.<\/p>

Le comit\u00e9 de mise en candidature qui a s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 les finalistes de cette ann\u00e9e se composait de Becky Dixon<\/strong> (biblioth\u00e9caire municipale \u00e0 la biblioth\u00e8que publique de Niagara Falls), de Rabia Khokar<\/strong> (enseignante et consultante en mati\u00e8re d'\u00e9quit\u00e9 et d'\u00e9ducation) et de Christie Vella<\/strong> (enseignante-biblioth\u00e9caire \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole publique John English).<\/p>

Le Fondation des arts de l'Ontario<\/strong> est passionn\u00e9ment engag\u00e9e \u00e0 renforcer le soutien \u00e0 long terme pour les arts en Ontario. En 2023-2024, la FAO a vers\u00e9 4,6 millions de dollars en revenus de dotation et 500 000 dollars en prix et bourses.<\/p>

Cela fait plus de 60 ans que le Conseil des arts de l'Ontario (CAO)<\/strong> joue un r\u00f4le de premier plan dans la promotion et l'aide en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9veloppement des arts au profit de tous les Ontariens. Le CAO a touch\u00e9 27,4 millions de personnes par le biais d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e8nements et d\u2019activit\u00e9s d\u2019\u00e9ducation artistique dans toute la province en 2021-2022. En 2023-2024, le CAO a investi son budget de subventions de 53,3 millions de dollars dans 219 collectivit\u00e9s situ\u00e9es dans toutes les circonscriptions de l\u2019Ontario, accordant 2 149 subventions \u00e0 des artistes et 1 043 subventions \u00e0 des organismes.<\/p>
