Toronto. le 25 septembre 2024 - La compositrice Cecilia Livingston<\/strong> remporte le Prix Louis Applebaum pour les compositeurs<\/a>. Le prix de 15 000 $ de cette ann\u00e9e r\u00e9compense l\u2019\u0153uvre compl\u00e8te d\u2019une artiste dans le domaine de la composition de musique pour le th\u00e9\u00e2tre, le th\u00e9\u00e2tre musical, la danse, et l\u2019op\u00e9ra.<\/p>

Cecilia Livingston se sp\u00e9cialise dans la composition pour la voix. Elle est compositrice en r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 la Compagnie d'op\u00e9ra canadienne (2022-) et a \u00e9t\u00e9 compositrice en r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 Glyndebourne (2019-22). Sa musique est port\u00e9e par la m\u00e9lodie, m\u00e9langeant les styles pour cr\u00e9er une \u0153uvre lyrique et troublante.<\/p>

Ses \u0153uvres ont \u00e9t\u00e9 entendues \u00e1 Glyndebourne, au Teatro Col\u00f3n, au Teatro Carlo Felice, au festival estival Bang on a Can, au festival Nuit Blanche de Toronto, en r\u00e9cital au Carnegie Hall, au Barbican, et au Kennedy Center. Elles ont aussi \u00e9t\u00e9 jou\u00e9es par la Toronto Symphony\nOrchestra, l\u2019Orchestre du Centre national des Arts du Canada, Tafelmusik, et Soundstreams, et sont disponible par Deutsche Grammophon. Cecilia est repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par Stratagem Artists \u00e1 New York.<\/p>

A propos le prix<\/strong>
Le Fonds Louis Applebaum pour les compositeurs<\/a> a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tabli \u00e0 la Fondation des arts de l'Ontario en 1998 par Louis Applebaum<\/strong> pour reconna\u00eetre l\u2019excellence en composition musicale quant \u00e0 tout genre que ce soit. Le prix est d\u00e9cern\u00e9 tous les deux ans dans les genres alternatifs suivants: media; th\u00e9\u00e2tre, th\u00e9\u00e2tre musical, danse ou op\u00e9ra; le jazz; et composition pour les jeunes.<\/p>

La Fondation des arts de l'Ontario g\u00e8re le fonds de dotation qui finance le Prix. Le Conseil des arts de l\u2019Ontario g\u00e8re le processus de nomination et de s\u00e9lection pour le prix.<\/p>

La Fondation des arts de l\u2019Ontario (FAO) est passionn\u00e9ment engag\u00e9e \u00e0 renforcer le soutien \u00e0 long terme pour les arts en Ontario. En 2023-2024, la FAO a vers\u00e9 plus de $4,6 millions de dollars en revenus de dotation et 500 000 dollars en prix et bourses.<\/p>
