What are you currently doing?
Since finishing my latest book with Pajama Press “When the Rain Comes” by Alma Fullerton, I have been working on a series of paintings.
What did receiving the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award mean to you?
It was a shock…you work away in your studio and sometimes forget that there is a bigger world out there and the fact that someone stops for a moment and takes notice and recognizes your work takes you by surprise. but its a nice surprise.
What does private arts philanthropy mean to you as a working artist?
It has been very important, the recognition the awareness and all the opportunities that come along with it has made this life as an illustrator of books possible.
